philosophy
Study Smarts has a simple philosophy. We believe that by empowering and equipping students, parents and teachers with a common language of study skills that every group will maximize their potential for not only academics, but also for life. We believe that by focusing and directing our training toward the student, the parent and teacher can “piggy back” our expertise and influence to help students recognize their potential and reach their maximize success.
As you can see, we take the approach of “edutainment”. Education is the motivation behind what we do, but we also believe that you can entertain at the same time. The reason we went to such great lengths to create the characters is to allow the students to identify who they seem to be the most like when it comes to school. It is a soft way for students to admit their struggle areas and gives educators insight in how they can best help. We also developed the characters to engage the visual and kinesthetic learner.
We thought about eliminating the characters for the high school, but decided to keep them as part of the program as a way to build credibility through creativity. We do not try to convince high school students to pattern their life after the characters, but merely use them as visual aids. Students in all grades, including the high school, will engage in the content and truly enjoy the presentation.
The bottom line for us is that “smart people are cool” and we want to make our students as smart as possible!
